A song of gratitude

peacesong copy

A friend spoke some truth to me tonight.
Spoke it into the seat right next to me
where it leaned over and whispered into my ear
“She’s right.”

And truth and my friend, they flooded
me with love as they held my
hand and spoke.

And the strength of the words,
pulled from the depths of my own knowing
broke forth flood waters of peace.

Things remain the same, only  not.
Because a light now illuminates the pain
and brings it forth from dark confusion.

I will honor my friend’s words,
and myself,
by taking them deep into my soul,
where they shall become the rests in a song of gratitude.
