Columbus and I have this little game going on.
First of all, I’ve been reading about the power of your thoughts, so I’m trying to think him into the well-behaved dog that I want. Being the verbal type, I also told him that I needed him to be a good dog.
I put my hands on his head as I told him this, and that’s when I realized we have a little problem.
Columbus thinks he’s the boss.
I always thought when he put his head on my lap to be petted that it was cute. And I’d pet him for a bit, then dismiss him (because there is no way he would get tired of petting before I did).
But what I’ve been doing – after I noticed that he didn’t like me being the top dog by putting my hands on top of his head – is that every time he puts his head on my lap I just rest my hand on his head.
And he picks his head right back up and tries to maneuver my hand off.
And I maneuver my hand to keep it on.
That’s the game. Who do you think is going to win this?
I think I need to in the journey to having a well-behaved dog.
Game on.
