Great sermon in church today. Then a nice visit with my dad in rehab. Then I wanted to get my room clean. I try and preserve Sundays for not doing things that fall in the chores category – and my definition of that is anything I really don’t enjoy doing – so this was going outside of my trying to observe the Sabbath in my modern way. But if I didn’t do it, I would wind up feeling bleh that I hadn’t gotten it done this weekend, so I brought my computer up and listened to a Northpoint sermon to offset the chore with things of God. When it was finished I turned on K-Love, online.
This song came on. I had never heard it before. I jumped up to see who sang it and what it was titled. The words of the song pretty much summed up what was preached in church today. Such a good message….
Jesus Friend of sinners we have strayed so far away
We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing
Jesus friend of sinners the truth’s become so hard to see
The world is on their way to You but they’re tripping over me
Always looking around but never looking up I’m so double minded
A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided
Oh Jesus friend of sinners
Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus friend of sinners break our hearts for what breaks yours….
Blessings,
Chris
